Invite organization members#

Invite organization members when someone needs access to the organization namespace, its organization management pages, or teams that can receive project access. Accepting an organization invitation makes the user an organization member, but it does not automatically make them a direct member of every project in the organization.

Before you start#

You need:

  • Owner access to the organization

  • the invitee’s Sysand Index username

  • a role choice for the invitee: Owner, Manager, or Member

Use Owner for people who should manage organization members, teams, team project access, settings, and deletion. Use Manager for people who should view organization projects, members, and teams, and update the organization profile, without administering access. Use Member for basic organization affiliation and for people who should receive project access through teams without seeing private organization management pages.

For exact role boundaries, see Roles and permissions.

Send the invitation#

  1. Go to Organizations.

  2. Open the organization you want to manage.

  3. Open Members.

  4. Under Invite member, enter the invitee’s username.

  5. Choose Member, Manager, or Owner.

  6. Choose an expiration from 1 to 30 days.

  7. Press Send invitation.

The invitation appears in the pending invitations table until the user accepts it, declines it, it expires, or an organization Owner revokes it.

For privacy, Sysand Index uses the same message when a username cannot be invited because it does not exist, is already a member, or already has an active invitation. Check the username with the invitee if the form cannot send the invitation.

Ask the invitee to accept#

The invitee accepts from Invitations. After acceptance, Sysand Index creates their organization membership with the role selected in the invitation.

If the person should publish releases or manage project tokens for an existing project, also give them project access. You can invite them directly to the project from the project’s Members page, or add them to an organization team that has project access.

Verify access#

Use checks that do not make additional changes:

  1. On the organization’s Members page, confirm the user appears with the expected organization role.

  2. If they have been added to a team with project access, confirm the project appears on their Projects page with the expected effective project role. To grant team access, see Manage organization team access.

For which roles can create the first project in an organization namespace and publish later releases, see Roles and permissions.
